Mass Golf Website: Spring Teams

April 24, May 1, May 8, May 15, May 22 (No Rain Dates)

Spring Team Cups include five golfers from six different clubs. Cups and teams are created by USGA handicap index. Team members agree to pay for carts and lunch on each play date. The team fee of $250 is divided among the team members.

Requirements are:

• Membership in Fairway Ladies, with current handicap.

• A season-end USGA Handicap Index or 36.0 or less.

Fairway Ladies’ Participation

Spring Team members are designated in November for play the following year. The Fairway Ladies can enter up to three Mass Golf Spring Teams. Golfers commit to play on five consecutive Thursdays beginning on the last Thursday in April. Alternates or substitutes provide support for unexpected player schedule conflicts.

Selection of Spring Teams

If there are more interested players than available slots on the Spring Team(s), the slots will be filled using the following selection criteria in the order given: 1. Active Members of the Fairway Ladies during the most recent season. See the Club Rules for the definition of Active Member. 2. The prior season’s Spring Teams participants who satisfactorily met their commitment to play in Spring Teams matches that year. 3. Participants from previous Spring Teams (members first; alternates second). 4. Player with the lower handicap.

Spring Team Coordinator and Captains

The Tournament Chairperson or her designee serves as contact to Mass Golf for Spring Teams. Each team selects a captain who is responsible for securing substitute players, communicating with opposing captains, and for the competition when played at Franklin Park, including planning for and collecting sufficient funds to cover the cost of the luncheon.
